Conditions
Although it’s an umbrella term, sports injuries can be classified as ankle sprains, groin injuries, knee injuries, hamstring sprains, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, muscle strains, tendonitis, bursitis, as well as many more.
Causes
Incidents on the sports field, poor gym practices, unstable footwear, over training and many other causes can contribute to the development of sports injuries. You don’t need to be playing sports to develop a sports injury!
Wokingham Osteopaths utilise a gentle combination of massage, articulation, stretches and manipulation (with consent) in order to relieve our patients of back pain.
Symptoms
- instability in a joint,
- pain on movement,
- joint inflammation,
- tenderness and stiffness.
How can treatment at Wokingham Osteopaths & Massage help your sports injury?
After meeting with our Sports Therapist Suzy, she’ll ask a series of questions regarding your injury, from the cause to the symptoms and whether it’s a recurring issue. Then follows an in-depth physical examination after which Suzy will discuss her findings and gain consent for treatment.
If safe to proceed, treatment will begin and normally involves hands-on work then a bespoke exercise plan depending on the injury.
Upon the next appointment the injury will be reassessed and treatment plan updated depending on how it has responded to the work so far.
