Your Visit

Your Visit to the osteopath at Wokingham Osteopaths

What to expect from your Osteopathy treatment

In the clinic, the osteopath will take your details in the form of your case history. You will be asked questions on the condition that you wish to be treated, medical history, health and fitness, occupation and family medical history.

After the case history you will be asked to undress to a suitable level of undress. It is advised that your wear shorts, and a sports top for females. Anything that allows us to examine your body will be suitable and you do not have to undress if you are uncomfortable, however it may impede our examination if you do not undress. You will be asked to perform a series of movements and then asked to hop onto the treatment couch for further examinations from the osteopath.

After the examinations have been performed, the osteopath will discuss what they think the problem is, the treatment plan for that problem and ask for your consent to perform treatment.

Please bring with you any recent reports or scan results you may have had if pertinent to the condition about which you wish to see us.

How long does an Osteopathy treatment take?

For the initial consultation we ask that you allow for one hour, although it may take slightly less time.

Follow up sessions take up to 30 minutes.

Who will treat me?

We currently have two osteopaths working at Wokingham Osteopaths; Matthew Devonport and Keri Long.

Both are highly qualified and have been treating patients for a minimum of eight years, mainly in the Wokingham area.

Can I have an Osteopathy treatment outside of working hours?

We offer two days a week with evening slots, (Tuesday and Thursday 11am – 7pm) to allow for patients to visit outside the working day.

If emergency treatment for a patient is requested at the weekend (i.e. in an emergency) or out of regular treatment hours we may charge twice the amount for a treatment slot. Out of hours sessions are subject to availability and not guaranteed.

Health Insurance

We are registered with the following health insurance companies:

If you have private medical insurance (PMI) you may need pre-authorisation for reimbursement for osteopathic treatment. When given, the PMI provider will give you a set number of treatments per condition.

Patients pay for treatment and are reimbursed by their PMI provider.

Some insurance companies may request referral from your GP.

If you are asked for the name of the osteopath with whom you are seeking treatment, they are Matthew Devonport and Keri Long.

Sickness Policy

As a health-focused clinic we are obliged to protect our patients by preventing the spread of easily contained diseases. Please call us to notify us of any illnesses as soon as you find out and we will be happy to reschedule your appointment if required. We would much rather have a single missed clinic slot than several days off work and our patients having to wait for treatment for that time.

If you arrive at the clinic for an appointment and are displaying symptoms of a communicable disease we reserve the right to refuse treatment on the grounds of preventing further infection. We also reserve the right to charge for the appointment slot.

Cancellation Policy

We operate a 24 hour cancellation policy. We reserve the right to charge for any cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment.

Frequently other patients are in pain and are on a waiting list in the event that a slot opens up. If you need to cancel or reschedule please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer the slots to other patients in need.

If you need to cancel your appointment, you can do so by calling our clinic on 0118 380 0385 or emailing by replying to the Booking Confirmation or Booking Reminder email that you will have received.
